Planned Gift Options
How it works
You direct a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or specific assets to a nonprofit in your will or living trust.
Example
You specify in your will that $100,000—or exactly 10% of your total estate value—will be transferred to The Cowgirl upon your passing.
How it works
You name a charitable organization as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, 401(k), or IRA.
Example
You designate The Cowgirl as the 100% beneficiary of a paid-up $500,000 life insurance policy, or name The Cowgirl to receive the remaining balance in your retirement account after your death.
How it works
You transfer highly appreciated assets (like real estate or stock) into a trust. The trust pays you (or your heirs) a fixed amount or percentage of the assets’ value for a specific term or for life. The remaining principal then goes to the charity.

You fund a CRT with $200,000 in appreciated stock, avoiding upfront capital gains tax. The trust pays you $10,000 annually, and The Cowgirl receives the balance when the tru

Instead of giving cash, you donate stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have significantly increased in value.
Example
You donate $10,000 worth of stock that you originally bought for $2,000. You claim a charitable deduction for the full $10,000 and completely bypass paying the capital gains tax on the $8,000 increase.
