Frances “Flaxie” Fletcher

1911-2002TexasInducted 1983

Though she was never a performer, Frances “Flaxie” Fletcher spent her life in the rodeo. She worked outside the arena performing the behind-the-scenes jobs of arena secretary, timer or administrative assistant for some of the biggest rodeos. After leaving the rodeo circuit, Flaxie spent ten years as the executive secretary of the rodeo division at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. She founded the Rodeo Historical Society and documented rodeo history through newsletters and publications.
